Character Creation

Character Races & Avatars:

  • Player characters are generally required to be human or humanoid, reflecting realistic standards.

  • No strict height or weight limits, but anime-style or overtly childlike features are not allowed. 20 foot tall humans are not allowed. C’mon guys.

  • Furry avatars are prohibited. This includes the traditional and overly colorful appearance of furry/scaley avatars. You must be a realistic in appearance avatar at all times that is grounded in the Fallout Universe.

  • Players may create regular or mutated animals (e.g., dogs, wild animals, wasteland-adapted creatures). Please be aware that some players may not ICly react to your character with overt kindness. Your character still possesses the same rules as everyone else unless your character is actively hostile in which case they DO NOT possess total Right to Life rules. Don’t make a Rabid Yao Guai and expect head pats.

  • Robot avatars are allowed. These can range from explicitly canon to vaguely canon in nature so long as they try to be in spirit with the Fallout Universe. Synths of any generation are allowed due to the general possibility of long term mass migration from the East Coast to the Midwest.

  • Cybernetics on Avatars is allowed. Cybernetics are in line with fallout lore but more advanced and cosmetically sound cybernetics are expensive and generally only acquirable in New Chicago. You may not start with advanced cybernetics. You may start with old, worn down versions especially if your character is a wastelander.

  • Humans may experience physical mutations that are ‘neko’ or ‘animalistic’ in appearance. IE: Ears and a Tail. While this is allowed OOCly there is a possibility that your character may experience IC prejudice. This is fair roleplay so long as it stays IC and real world racial slurs are never used. IC created ones are permitted unless they break personal limits. Be mindful WHO, HOW and WHERE you roleplay prejudicial behavior!

  • Certain Wasteland mutations and races are permitted:

    • Super Mutants – allowed. Cannot join the Brotherhood of Steel.

    • Ghouls – allowed; only Ghouls may join the Brotherhood of Steel due to uniform compatibility.

    • Deathclaw – allowed. Cannot join the Brotherhood of Steel.

  • Any issues with character design or avatar appropriateness will be addressed by an admin. They may be willing to negotiate with you but their final ruling is final unless under extreme circumstances.

1. Humans

  • Pre-War Humans: Baseline humans living before the Great War of 2077. In some special cases, there can be people from Pre-War in the setting.

  • Post-War Humans: Survivors of the nuclear apocalypse, often mutated or adapted to the Wasteland. Includes settlers, scavengers, vault dwellers, raiders, and faction members (e.g., NCR, Brotherhood of Steel, Enclave).

2. Mutated Humans

  • Ghouls: Humans exposed to extreme radiation; retain intelligence but often face social ostracism. Subtypes:

    • Feral Ghouls: Lost sanity, aggressive, mostly hostile.

    • Non-Feral Ghouls: Retain personality and intellect, able to integrate into society.

  • Super Mutants: Created by exposure to the Forced Evolutionary Virus (FEV). Large, strong, and often hostile. Variants:

    • Normal Super Mutants: Standard strength, sometimes intelligent (as seen in Fallout 3 and New Vegas).

    • Specialized/Leaders: Examples include Master mutants, Nightkin, Behemoths. Extremely rare this far East. Admin Approval required

3. Synths

  • Advanced androids created by The Institute (Fallout 4).

  • Generation 1: Basic, crude, easily distinguishable.

  • Generation 2: More lifelike, limited intelligence.

  • Generation 3: Nearly indistinguishable from humans, often used for espionage or infiltration.

4. Mutated Animals & Creatures

  • Radscorpions: Giant irradiated scorpions.

  • Deathclaws: Genetically engineered super-predators, extremely strong and dangerous.

  • Mirelurks: Crustacean-like mutants living near water sources.

  • Yao Guai: Mutated bears, aggressive and strong.

  • Albino Radstags, Bloatflies, Nightstalkers, Cazadores, etc.: Various post-apocalyptic wildlife adapted to radiation.

Note: You as a player may possess SOME of these animals as pets however there is an IC process of declaring them as New Chicago Friendly. Please speak with your closest Brotherhood of Steel representative ICly for more information.

5. Alien Life (NPC, Storyteller tool only)

  • Alien Visitors: Introduced primarily in Fallout 3 and New Vegas (UFO encounters, E.T. type events).

  • Blaster Aliens / Gray Aliens: Rare, generally hostile.

There is no application process to join the roleplay. Create your character, create your group and go tell your story! Applications only apply for restricted faction usage (Enclave, Minutemen, etc) and joining our Staff.
